My Credentials


I received my B.A. degree from U.C. San Diego in 1970 and my J.D. degree from the U.C.L.A. School of Law in 1974. I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1974 and through 1977 was an associate attorney at Loube & Lewis in Oakland, California. In 1978, I opened the Law Offices of Richard A. Goodman. Since 1994 I have been partners with B. Scott Levine in the firm of Goodman & Levine LLP.

I have taught courses in real estate and taxation at John F. Kennedy School of Law, Golden Gate University Graduate School of Business, U.C. Extension and Chabot College. I also have chaired many panels sponsored by the State Bar of California and by the California Continuing Education of the Bar and have made numerous presentations to attorneys, accountants, exchange intermediaries, real estate agents and title companies.

I am the author of the first edition of Real Property Exchanges which remains a standard reference work. My articles are listed on the page entitled My Publications and some of those articles may be accessed directly.

I am listed in the 2005 edition of Northern California Super Lawyers.
